Continued from Day 1 Istanbul to Gallipoli
BusAbout Classic Balkan Trek – Day 2 of 9
Hello Greece! I’ve always wanted to go to Greece because of the beautiful pictures of Santorini and Parthenon, but that’s about all I know. My European knowledge is quite poor compared to my Asian knowledge :-P.
From the distance in the bus, my first impression of Kavala and Thessaloniki was the buildings seem to be geographically messy. As in, it seems the buildings are placed all over the place and then roads are build around it making it look aesthetically disorganised. But when you get closer to it and explore the roads and buildings it’s a false perception as there are many ruins in-between. Both towns are surprisingly street clean and walking along by the water is rather quite pleasant. My fave is by the water in Thessaloniki.. reminded me so much of St.Kilda back home in Melbourne.
Also Greece has tons of Pharmacies around!
After the moving experience of Gallipoli we head across the border to Greece, stopping to visit Kavala and its impressive Roman aqueduct then on to Thessaloniki. It’s well known that you can eat some of the best Greek food here, its nightlife is second to none and its white sandy beaches are awesome so time to party on and enjoy some local interaction.
