Continued from Day 6 French Riviera To Florence
Contiki European Experience – Day 7 of 20
Florence is really beautiful so it was a great place to take a souvenir group photo (11 euros for a copy) at one of Florence viewpoints. At the viewpoint, you can buy small replica of statue of David (the naked guy), leaning tower of pisa, and Venus (the naked women).
At Leonardo’s we learnt how they get leather, how you can tell it’s real leather, types of leather and how they colour them etc. After the demonstration we get a chance to shop with them. To be honest, I find they sell overpriced leather jackets. You can find cheaper (and many more designs) all over Florence but if you can wait, it’s WAY cheaper in Amsterdam (similar designs)! Florence I bought 2 very nice leather jackets for around 500 euros combined. At Amsterdam, you can find real leather jackets from France and Italy for around 50-150 euros! At Leonardo’s, I didn’t really like their designs and was double the cost. They have 1 toilet.. use it early on or else you’ll be lining up. Most public toilets cost in Italy.
I really enjoyed Florence, it wasn’t that crowded, always something to see and lots of shops! Lots and lots of leather shops – me like! Don’t forget to haggle.
There’s also a lot of statues everywhere (many naked) and heaps of art gallery and museums to visit.
